D’ana Nunez

How did you get into graphic design?

About two years ago, I became obsessed with the idea of storytelling thru digital art. Then a month later, my fiancé surprises me with a Wacom tablet..

Where are you from? Has your city inspired your art in any way?

Born and raised in Miami and then hopped around between Puerto Rico and Lakeland.

Miami has made it extremely easy for me to create, everything about my city just oozes

colors, diversity and life.

What do you intend for people to feel when they look at your art?

There’s really no right or wrong answer to my pieces but ultimately I aim to sparkup some inspiration to those who may feel they’re in a rut.

What or who are your biggest influences?

Hattie Stewart has always been someone I look up to, I think her use of color and wittiness inspires me to be unapologetically myself.

I was reading on your blog about having anxiety still in your 20s. I totally relate. I feel like a lot of artists have psychological or emotional disorders and art is how we cope. Is this the same for you?

Totally. And I’m thankful because statistically I am prone to become a drug addict, as it’s "a part of my DNA” but I have fought my way thru

to that sort of resort and have found something I believe in and that something is creating. So thankful that even in the midst of my anxiety,

there’s something that can keep me grounded.

What's your favorite collab you've done to date and why?

I would have to say designing the artwork for Ariana of YourMobileGeeks first mix. Seeing Ariana experiment and grow into

her own lane has been such a humbling thing to witness. Over the course of this year and last, she went from interning for me to

molding and curating her own craft. I will always love collaborating with my friends more before any brand because the work

that’s invested harbors so much truth and love.

Are there any other hobbies or passions that you have?

I have this undying passion for wine and puppies. If I’m ever in a mood or rut, my friends send me links of puppiesor they come over and feed me wine.

I was stoked the night I asked you to do the interview I saw your work come to life on the Billboard Music Awards stage during the Nicki Minaj set. Was this a collab with BBMAs or Nicki? What inspired the art behind it?

Parris and I have been so fortunate to work on projects like this one with Billboards, of which he animated the clip of Nicki, Drake and the Chainsmokers. The theme was Summer 2017.

Super fun but stressful because everything was animated in real time!
